Farhad 'Darya' Nasher born September 22, 1962, in Kabul, Afghanistan) is an Afghan American singer and composer, as well as a highly acclaimed music producer. Widely popular, he has earned affection for not only his music but also patriotism. He has fan base that stretches from his native Afghanistan to Central Asia, Iran, Pakistan, and extending to the West among the Afghans and Persian. During the 1980s, Darya's focus was his education and his singing profession did not materialize into an established career.[citation needed] Mainly involved with the Rain Band, he was only recognized merely as a single part of a whole group. However, after his emigration from Afghanistan and the dissolution of the group, he embarked on a solo career. فرهاد دریا (زاده ۲۲ سپتامبر ۱۹۶۲ در گذرگاه کابل) خواننده و آهنگ ساز نامدار افغان است. فرهاد دریاافزون بر زبان فارسی که زبان مادری اوست، به زبانهای پشتو، ازبکی و هندی نیز آواز می خواند. او آوازخوانی را از اواسط دهه هشتاد میلادی در کابل آغاز کرد. گروه باران، متشکل از شماری از آوازخوانهای جوان افغان، نخستین عرصه حضور فرهاد دریا در عالم موسیقی بود. آقای دریا با سقوط دولت دکتر نجیب الله، افغانستان را ترک کرد اکنون در آمریکا زندگی می‌کند. او نخستین آوازخوان مهاجر افغان بود که پس از فروپاشی رژیم طالبان، برای اجرای کنسرت به کابل بازگشت. فرهاد دریا تاکنون چند بار به کابل سفر کرده و برنامه‌های مختلف هنری، از جمله کنسرت کوچه برای کودکان خیابانی اجرا کرده است. حاصل نخستین سفر فرماد دریا به کابل، آلبوم افغانستان سلام بود که مورد توجه علاقه مندان آوازش قرار گرفت.
